What goes on in your head is yours. But an animal is not a fantasy. An animal cannot consent and does not seek sex with humans. Whoever loves an animal lets it be free and leaves it alone. In the United Kingdom and almost every US state, sex with animals is against the law.

Although “zoophilia” is a search term that brings many visitors to this page, we have nothing to do with bestiality.
Freedom for animals also means the right not to be bothered with our sexual needs. An animal that can show its natural behaviour does not seek sex with humans. There is no reciprocity unless you leave the other free.
Having a desire is something different from acting on it. Whoever knows and accepts their desires does not have to give in to them. Love what you desire, but know what true love means: freedom. True love does not want to harm. The greatest wrong is to leave wrongs unnamed.
Double standards
The outrage about sex with animals is justified, but selective. Dutch biologist Midas Dekkers put it sharply in 2004: “If you are caught taking a horse from behind, you go to prison; if you lock 500,000 chickens in a shed under barbaric conditions, you get a big bag of subsidy”.
Whoever condemns sex with animals because the animal is not asked should think the same about the 518 million chickens slaughtered in the Netherlands alone in 2025. They were not asked either.
In England and Wales, sexual penetration involving a living animal is an offence under section 69 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. In the United States, every state except West Virginia has a law against the sexual abuse of animals (Animal Legal Defense Fund, 2025). In the Netherlands, sex with animals has been a criminal offence since 2010.
